It seems that 60 or so PR doctors thought it would be a good idea to pose with Haitian Earthquake victims holding soldiers guns and having a great time doing it.

Some were holding beers, condoms, and saws next to people who were bloody, hurt, and half dressed.

Puerto Rico is investigating the doctors for ethics vialations. They say they have already punished the soldiers who offered up their guns to the docs to pose for these photos.

Some of the Haitian earthquake victims were transported to the Dominican Republic and about 60 doctors from PR went there to aid these people.

Maybe someone should explain to the “doctors” what aid really means.

To me and I’m sure many others around the world this is beyond ethics violations. It’s heartless, inhumane, and unforgivable. I certainly would not see a doctor who thought this kind of human suffering was funny or see it as a photogenic moment.

You might say this is a mere handful of doctors out of thousands, but who knows how many more that are this way and just haven’t gotten caught yet?

The Denny’s restaurant chain is being sued by a New Jersey man and the Center for Science in the Public for the high amount of sodium in most of their food. Denny’s is responding by saying the suit is silly and has no merit.

The truth is that Denny’s has food on the menu that contains over 5000 mgs of sodium. In case you don’t know the recommended daily maximum amount is around 2300 or 2400 mgs. So it’s possible to consume a couple days worth all in one meal. For those who are salt sensitive and have high blood pressure or heart problems this amount of sodium can be very dangerous and in some cases even deadly. The suit wants to force Denny’s to list the sodium content on their menus.

I don’t think that’s asking too much, in fact as someone who needs to watch their daily intake of sodium, carbs, and calories, I would love for restaurants to list nutritional information for all their foods, even if it be on a separate menu page. I think we’re all entitled to know what we’re consuming.

On the other hand we can’t blame Denny’s for our own ignorance. The truth is when you eat at a restaurant you should know that they prepare the food for taste and not health. They will add extra fats and sodium and whatever else it takes to make the food taste the best. That’s a given. An adult in this day and age should know that and take responsibility for their decision go there and eat. You can’t tell me that some people would consider a meal of sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes, and toast to be good for their health.

Another consideration is portion size. I vacationed last week, where my sister took me out to eat almost daily. At most of the restaurants we went to I couldn’t finish the meal and had to ask for doggy bags. Understand also that I am not a thin person and am very capable of eating a lot. The point is that if portions were cut the sodium content would certainly be lower without altering the recipe.

A lawsuit that was started six years ago ended with manyAdventist hospitals in the Chicago area on the losing end of a settlement agreement.

It seems that the hospitals get a tax exemption for treating the non and under insured and the suit says they have been charging the same top rates to the non and under insured as those who are not eligible for those rates.

To be eligible a family of four would have to make less than 82,000 a year to qualify for dicounts and those who have no insurance or are at twice the poverty level I believe are not supposed to be charged at all.

The hospitals have been ordered to repay those people from 2000 to present who were charged or overcharged.

The word is also that they haven’t been treating enough of those people to justify the tax exemption that they are getting.

I don’t think many people are aware of this. I always thought no hospital could turn you down for treatment if it was a matter of life or death. It seems you don’t have to wait until you’re at death’s door, which makes sense because it could save money. The more progressed a disease becomes the more has to be done and the more expensive the costs.

Elizabeth Mateo is suing Dr. Steven Kirshner over a temporary tattoo he place below her panty line on her stomach after surgery.

The doctor operated on a disc in her back and had to have placed the red rose tattoo on her afterwards. There were no witnesses.

He fully admits to putting the tattoo there and he says he meant no harm, that he did it to make her feel better. He goes on to say that he’s done this with other patients and no one has complained till now, in fact they seemed to like it.

Elizabeth discovered the tattoo when her husband was helping her to get dressed to leave the hospital, and became very upset.

The doctors lawyer is ridiculous in saying he did nothing wrong. This so called doctor is a whack job and I hope she wins this case.

Why did he put it below the panty line on her abdomen, and what else might he have done while she was unaware and he was in the area. If it was as he said, why didn’t he put it on her arm, which in my opinion is still not OK. He should have just left it by her bedside if his intent truly was to make her feel better.

I believe he is assuming his other patients didn’t mind because they were probably too embarrassed or ashamed to say anything. Furthermore, how many male patients is he tattooing in this manner?

I think this doctor needs a doctor himself. He abused her trust and his power over her while she was unable to protest. How dare he!
