New Legislation by Bush Administration, Right of Conscience
The Bush Administration is proposing to pass legislation that would protect all health care workers from punishment by their employers, because they refused to participate in any procedure they find objectionable personally, morally, or religiously.
This legislation is mainly aimed at abortion, however it may have far reaching arms into areas like stem cell research, sterilization, and other care.
There have been legislation’s on this matter since the 1970’s, however it has not been enforced. The enforcement will consist of withholding funding to hospitals and clinics that employ workers who refuse to do their jobs and face consequences for it.
This would even include workers who sterilize operating instruments for a procedure they find objectionable.
With the last legislation leaving little doubt that they believe anything that interferes with a fertilized egg is abortion, they have pretty much set back woman’s health care to the back alley ages. Congratulations.
Live in England? Elderly? Too Bad
I have just read an article from England, which says that if you are elderly, medical treatment should not be given.
For instance, the highest group at risk for breast cancer is 70 and over. They have a 350 in 100,000 risk of the disease. However, advisors in England are saying it’s not worth it to test or screen woman over 70. It’s not worth it? I guess that means if you are over 70, and you’re health is failing, you deserve it. Go ahead, get sick, suffer and die. So what if you are the same people that bore and raised ungrateful brats that grew up to be these advisors. Who cares. You did your job, now get out of the way, we don’t need you anymore. You best bet, none of these advisors, are elderly, or have loved ones who are. You may think you’re safe because you may not live in England. Maybe you live in America, for instance. Well don’t fool yourself, the same thing occurs here, only we don’t usually find it in the newspapers. The truth is that sometimes the elderly are treated like animals. The doctor will say this or that is wrong, but at this age …is it really worth it to treat them? The question should be, are THEY really worth it.? I’m sure it all boils down to the question of money. In my book a good human being is worth more than money. You can always find a way to make more money, but let’s see you reanimate Grandma!
