The fear that your child will get appendicitis is not an uncommon worry for many parents. The reason is that the condition requires immediate treatment. For this reason many parents worry about appendicitis and their children. Left untreated the appendicitis can rupture within one to three days and make very bad fevers and infections in the body.
Appendicitis is more common among boys than in girls and is usually most prominent when a child is eleven years of age or older. One of the main symptoms of appendicitis is include intermittent pain on the right side of the stomach near the belly button area. Some children will have a sudden loss of appetite and even experience some nausea and vomiting. Others will have an increase urge to go pee more than normal with a low grade fever.
If you are in doubt it’s always better to have your child looked at than to take the risk. Usually the doctor will take an xray to determine if the child has appendicitis and often blood and urine tests. In some cases they may even order a CT scan. But if you think your child might have one, it important to take them to the doctor.
