Eye Care for Your Children
The eyes are an extremely important part of the body. It is amazing how often the eyes are over-looked by parents when it comes to children’s health. However, it is never too late to make certain to care about the eyes and take proper care of your children’s bodies.
Each year a child should have an eye exam to check for changes in the eyes. If your child wears corrective lenses of any sort, it is especially important to have an annual eye exam to make any changes needed in the corrective lenses.
One of the best ways to help your child care for their eyes is to encourage them to eat proper nutrition, wash their hands frequently and get plenty of rest. Encouraging these behaviors combined with annual eye exams will ensure that your child maintains healthy eyes and have the best possible vision that they can have.
If you child complains about headaches they may need corrective lenses. Other things to look for include squinting, moving closer to objects to see them such as books and television screens, often rubbing eyes and dry eyes. If you notice these in your child discuss it with the pediatrician and set up an eye exam appointment.
