Bird Flu
Let’s remember to save some panic for the bird flu, which is still one day going to take over the world.
Perhaps I exaggerate, however the leader of the World Health Organization wants us to remember the up and coming pandemic.
Pap Tests
The doctors in the UK are putting out the word that they are becoming alarmed at the thousands of women that are not showing up for their pap tests.
Pap or smear tests are needed as a test to see if a woman has cervical cancer or not. Since most cancer victims have a higher rate of survival if the disease is found early, these tests are important.
Beware Endurance Exercises
Although it is a rare condition, some athletes are developing arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. This leads to the heart starting to beat abnormally and missing beats and can lead to sudden death.
There may be other factors involved and they don’t want people to panic and stop their activities, just for now be aware.
See I Told You !
Boston is now announcing that their states new health care plan will cost about $380 a month, and that is the very minimum insurance, and it is the cost for an individual not family coverage.
Their new law says that everyone must have health insurance by July 1st. or get a waiver proving that they can’t afford it.
States have a way of proving that you can afford it by ignoring all those bills you have like credit cards.
Altruism
Researchers claim to be able to see altruism on brain scans.
That is very interesting. I’m not sure what we could do with that. Maybe for now just a good Hhmmm…
Dogs vs. Cats
We all know that people who have pets are healthier than people who do not.
Now it’s been discovered that dog owners are even healthier than cat owners. There are two possible reasons for this.
The first is that dog owners usually take their dogs out for walks, and walking is an excellent exercise.
The second reason is that dogs are just a little more interactive with us, thus helping us to lower our stress levels a bit.
Bush’s Proposal
On Jan. RD. the president will have another state of the union address.
One of his big issues will be a health care plan that says if lower income people get their own private health care insurance they will get a tax break.
I am one of those people and I don’t see a tax cut large enough to cover the few hundred I would need every month to pay for private insurance. We live from paycheck to paycheck now with not a penny to spare in between. I have already given up buying groceries and get our food from food pantries. So where does this money come from?
Bird Slaughter
Indonesian authorities have been slaughtering backyard chickens and some pet birds since five people have died of the bird flu over the last couple of weeks.
They are hoping that this action will help to at least curb the disease before it kills many more people.
Trans Fats
Doctors have now discovered that women who eat a lot of trans fats have an increased chance of infertility.
We already know that trans fats are bad for us, but I think that the researchers are going to continue to look for additional reasons that we need to ban and stay away from these kinds of fats.
Not to worry, you had me at fat.
Walmart
An Appeals Court ruling is upholding the ruling for Walmart. A law would have required that Walmart spend at least 8% of it’s payroll on employee health care, which is something they do not want to do.
