Human Waste

76004_lightning_globe__1.jpg     The Catholic Church is once again leading the nations hypocrites, this time under the title of destroying embryos for stem cell research. They say that even though clinics are throwing away these embryos, that we should not be a part of it by experimenting on them.

The fact is, is that they are being destroyed anyway and I see no reason why if that is the case, that we should not take advantage of this raw material, to help cure ailments with the stem cells.

I refer to this way of thinking as being hypocritical because many catholics are for the war in Iran and they see the innocents that are killed as acceptable collateral damage. Maybe you can see the difference but I do not.

Not to mention the fact that when you outlaw something like this, it doesn’t stop it, it merely forces it underground where there can’t be any type of over site or regulations, but I guess they figure if they can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.

Also consider this, how many of these people are being treated for conditions with therapies that were developed from experiments and knowledge gained from victims of the holocaust during Hitlers reign of terror in his concentration camps. Does that not mean that they are benefiting from the obscene tortures that took place then?

I guess it is OK to have it both ways if it benefits you.

Glaucoma

485479_blood_glucose_measure_diabetes_check_.jpg     A twenty year study on nurses revealed that a woman who developes type 2 diabetes has an 82 percent chance of developing glaucoma.

I can tell you that for me this is true. I developed diabetes without even knowing it. The thing that forced me to go to the doctor was that my sight started going. I was to the point where I should no longer have been driving. Things like streetlights at night had halos and it made everything look as if I was on an alien planet. During the day I could not tell a green light from a red light.

The study further showed that the proper diet was used to reverse the effects on sight, but was easier for minorities than for white woman.

I am white and I can tell you that once I went on the insulin and had proper diet and exercise my sight did return to normal after only a couple of months.

Exercise and diet even allowed me to get off the meds entirely.

Unwanted Cancer Treatment

A judge has been asked to make a ruling concerning a teens right to refuse conventional cancer treatment . This teen who has Hodgkin’s disease has undergone three months of chemotherapy before, and although his cancer has become active again, he wants to use alternative methods to fight it. A social worker asked the judge to force the chemo on him and remove him from his family.

Since when does a social worker have the medical experience to make such a demand? The teen in my opinion has the right to say what goes on in his body and in his life. He is the one with the disease and he knows better than anyone what the consequences are.

Yet Another Study

Yes folks the studies never end. This particular study shows that there is a difference in gender when it comes to lung cancer. The result is that women who smoke are twice as likely to develop the disease, however men are twice as likely to die from it even if discovered early in both sexes. It is not yet known if the reason is because it’s easier to treat in women, or if it’s just that more malignant in men.

Whatever the case, the fact remains that it’s a good idea to quit smoking if you do, and an even better idea never to start.

Activities, Key To A Longer Life

I think we’ve all known this deep down but a recent study backs it up, keeping active can help you to live longer.

The study tracked 302 seniors from age 70 to 82 for six years, and concluded that any kind of physical activity can help to extend life. Even if the activities just include the usual daily chores of keeping house they are of much benefit.

Any movement is good movement and very often normal aches and pains will improve with being active. It’s great for diabetics too, as it helps to burn off not only calories, but excess sugar in the body.

     Remember, just keep moving!
