Diabetes , Could You Be A Victim ?

May 27, 2006 · Filed Under Health Care · Comment

A new study says that over a third of people who have Type 2 diabetes, or on their way to having it, don’t even know it.

I can tell you first hand this is true. I had it and ignored the symptoms up until I started loosing my vision and became very ill. By the time I went to the ER to be checked out, the doctors informed me my sugar was over 700 (normal is 100). They said I was dying. Talk about a wake up call!

The good news is that I can easily manage it with exercises and proper diet.

If you are overweight, don’t exercise, have a bad diet, get your blood sugar tested. It’s a disease that you can beat!

Abortion Pill and Deadly Bacteria

May 11, 2006 · Filed Under Health Care · Comment

Remember the character on Saturday Night Live, called the church lady? In the skits she would say ” how convenient “. That’s my response to this latest news about the abortion pill being linked to a deadly bacteria that all of a sudden is killing women. Bush and his twisted thinking right wing old testament idiots are against the pill and voilà, we have a threat of bacteria infection to women taking it.

The other day in the news, a study was done on mortality rates of infants from countries all over the world. Guess what? America came in second highest. We are supposed to be the worlds superpower, but we can’t keep our babies alive?

This is shameful, and Bush needs to get his head out of Fox’s butt, and quit playing his wargames and get his priorities straight!!!

Seniors and The New Drug Plan

May 11, 2006 · Filed Under Health Care · Comment

Democrats want the deadline to enroll seniors in the new drug, to be extended because for a lot of elderly people, it’s difficult to understand. The administration will not extend the date because they say it will cost the government millions of dollars more.

In other words, the government had lawyers create a mountain of red tape, which is nearly impossible to sort out and understand. This was done on purpose, so they wouldn’t have to pay for all the people that are entitled to it.

For those of you who don’t agree with this view of the situation, ask yourself this, ” Why put a date limit on at all?”

Bush can fool himself and sleep at night thinking that he offered it to everyone. It’s just like all the fools in this country who say in America you can be whatever you want to be, even the president. However those of us with a foot still in the door of reality, know that if you are not rich, you don’t have a chance of becoming president

Aids Test For Everyone !

May 8, 2006 · Filed Under Health Care · 1 Comment

The CDC would like everyone aged 13 to 64 be tested for the aids virus at least once, when they go to the doctors office.

I have very mixed feelings about this. We all would like to wipe out this disease, as it has become the fourth leading cause of death in the world. The main reason for this “law”, is that they say right now, most people who get the test, get it because they believe they are at risk for it. Before you can get the test at a doctors office, you must go through pretest counseling, which tells you how to prevent getting it and what to do once you test positive. They would like to make it easier for people by doing away with the counseling. I’m not sure that makes much sense, but that is what they say the reason is.

I wonder once the test is done, if the person tests  positive, what the government will do with this information. The other thing is, is that what possible good will one test do? Let’s say you test a fourteen year old. The CDC requirement is met, and the fourteen year old has the next forty years to acquire the virus without mandatory testing.

I don’t have the correct answer, but this seems like a waste of someone’s money.
