Medicaid Recipients May Lose
April 16, 2006 · Filed Under Health Care
Some Medicaid recipients may lose benefits, states fear, because of a new law that says they must prove citizenship.
The law requires that they must show proof such as a passport or a birth certificate. The problem seems to be that a lot of poor people may no be able to provide such proof. They may not live in the same state they were born in, or may have lost all contact with any family they might have had.
In light of this the states may not save as much money as they had hoped, in enacting this new law.
